If you’ve been associated with crystals, spirituality, and healing energy, the term Shamanic Healing wouldn’t be very new to you.
I chose Shamanic healing as the topic for my blog because a few weeks back, I attended an energy healing session and found great spiritual help.
Interestingly, did you know we all go on a shamanic journey every night when we sleep? As we dream, our souls leave our bodies and go ahead to explore other worlds.
Let’s learn more about the shaman, shamanic journeying, and how we heal spiritually with this ancient traditional practice.
How Shamanic Healing Works
To begin with, let’s get done with the jargon. Shaman is the person who is the practitioner – the healer and usually the most notable of the religious figures.
Shamanic healing is a spiritual practice where the shaman works in tandem with “helpful spirits” in the spiritual realms. By ‘summoning’ these spirits, they allow your body – read: soul – to heal spiritually as well as physically (in rare cases).
The shaman goes on a ‘journey’ to contact these spirits, which is usually by entering a trance state. In other words, this is a near-death experience (similar to how we slide into a deep sleep) and involves drumming or special music in the background that mimics the ‘frequency’ of the earth and puts the mind in a relaxed state.
Typically, shamans can go on a shamanic journey for different purposes but must have one ‘intention’ to do so. This can be for shamanic healing, to call on spirit guides, retrieve a soul, or meet with their spirit animal.
During the practice, once they are in this powerful realm, they might ask helper spirits to invoke shamanic healing by pulling ‘power’ from the sufferer’s oversoul.
You see, we’ve all been through trauma at some point in our lives. It can be emotional trauma or a physical injury – but that life-altering trauma that we have experienced may have made us lose a part of our soul. Or perhaps our ‘spiritual force field’ might have gotten damaged.
That is why we are vulnerable to illnesses, bad luck, or depression-alike symptoms. If you’re one of them, know that shamanic healing will benefit you immensely.
What exactly a shaman does is go to the spirits world, heal your soul either by their own efforts or by talking to spirit guides/animals, and come back with you feeling a whole lot better. The more powerful the shaman is in this healing practice, the easier they find it to traverse the spirit world.
3 Ways to do Shamanic Healing
Now that I’ve explained shamanic healing in detail, here are some ways you can perform the practice. Keep in mind that these practices are recommended by a shaman and you may not have heard of them.
1. Call on your ancestors
Turns out the stuff we’ve been watching in movies was not all imaginary. Spiritual guide and healer, Shaman Durek, is the author of the book, Spirit Hacking, and describes this method of turning to your ancestors when you’re stuck or clueless.
Create an altar in your home with candles and stuff that represent your ancestors. It can be old cloth, a photo frame, or things like that. In my recommendation, use The Sacred Protection Lamp that’s particular for energy healing sessions like shamanism. It has seven beautiful crystals surrounding a selenite-made candle that is said to purify your space.
According to Durek, you have to put your finger to your right temple and call upon your ancestor(s). Look at your finger and ask them to send you an image of their face when they come through or a sensation in your body when they arrive. Wait until you experience either of these. Once you feel like you have connected, ask them for wisdom that they can give you to move through this time.
2. Heal from the Earth
Set a timer of 10 minutes, better if you place The Sacred Protection Lamp close-by, and lay on the ground. With your eyes wide open, say this out loud, “I want you to bring in the highest amount of healing from the Earth into your body and release anything you’re holding onto.”
Try it out and you’ll actually feel the energy flowing through your body. You may feel yourself swallowing, yawning, coughing, or sneezing as your body detoxes and gets cleansed.
3. Shamanic sun ritual
One of the most helpful shamanic healing practices is the sun ritual. As Durek says, it is a ritual where you take all your worries, fears and give them to the sun before it sets.
It is quite simple, medically helpful too, and needs no dedicated set-up. Simply go out in the sun before sunset, face the sun where it is at that time, and chant, “I give you all of my fears and worries. Let the sun dispel it into the fire.” Then you have to say, “Upon rising of the next day, give me strength that I’ve never experienced before.”
The key part of all shamanic healing sessions is to believe in the words that you say.
