Spiritual well-being has got a profound connection with good quality of sleep. People who tend to follow a certain spiritual regime daily know the importance of deep restful sleep.

I’ve always given preference to powerful, full-of-potential mornings but setting the pace of effective mornings is only possible if bedtimes are full of positive energy. Not only this, people around the world who follow a religion of their choice are habitual of some sort of spiritual ritual to do before bed.

I’d be writing down some of my favorite spiritual rituals that are to be performed before hitting your pillow. I am hoping to inspire you to try (or re-try) some of these to cleanse your mind and body for a deep peaceful slumber and fresh start the next day. 

1.    Prayer: the most effective spiritual ritual to do before bed

Now my audience who are either atheist or agnostic might not see eye to eye with me on this matter. However, I’ve discovered through years of practice that a single small prayer before bed takes you a long way. What should we pray before sleeping? This is the most asked question when I rave about praying before bedtime. Let me dismantle that. Prayer does not have to be a certain verse or some written composition that has to be repeated every night. It can come from your heart.

If you’re among those who believe in God or Mother Nature, you might want to connect to them through prayer(s). On the contrary, you don’t have to be associated with a sect or label or rules. Communicate with the universe, your ancestors, or even angels and guides. It could be anything. Even a single trigger you feel brings about a negative energy in your personality can become a powerful thing to pray about. This spiritual ritual grounds you.

2.    Connect with a crystal or gem

I believe life is a blessing and it should be lived with intention. To help us gain insight into many such blessings given to us, `we should take help from healing crystals and natural stones. I have researched the various benefits of attaching yourself to a crystal.

Conscious items is a webpage that holds numerous articles on real stones and how they help you with your struggles. It can be kept on the bedside table in form of a lamp or just as a raw stone. It can be ignited before sleeping, allowing the smoke to spread around you and touch your aura.

3.    Meditation

Another soothing spiritual ritual to do before bed that promises a peaceful sleep and a more powerful morning is meditation. It’s the best possible way to end your day. Cleansing your mind, heart, and soul along with physical relaxation is an act that penetrates your sleep. Meditation ensures a deep peaceful sleep that empowers spirituality. A mind that is only full of serenity and positive thoughts will help to ward off negative dreams that might cause anxiety after you wake up. This is why I like to meditate or stretch in the evening when it is almost bedtime. Visualizing all of my energy from the day being grounded releases tension from my body and lifts off the weight from my soul.

4.    Reading a meaningful book

I’m sure many of us believe and regularly practice this spiritual ritual to do before bed. It becomes more forceful when you’re reading a spiritual book that helps you spiritually and emotionally. Reading a hard copy is a custom that should always be in your night routine. However, don’t choose a book that gears up your mind. Pick something that adds value to your aim of better holistic health. Sleeping with spiritual thoughts makes your sleep restful and tranquilizes your soul.
